Dave Neal and Graham Zusi were buddies at Maryland.

Yes the players have a pool going, but we also have some rooting interests. Graham Zusi and Abe Thompson (Maryland guys) went to today's Maryland v. Cal game with Eric Kronberg (a Cal guy) at Sprint Center. Zusi and Thompson went home happy as the Terps pulled off a mini upset (they were a 10 seed, Cal was a 7 seed). Zusi got the tickets from a friend of his (Dave Neal, who happened to score 15 points) who is on the basketball team at Maryland, and the two Marylanders were nice enough to let Kronberg tag along. Maybe they knew an upset was coming. Zusi said of the game: "Maryland came up big in the second half and had a convincing win."
