USA and Mexico are set for another showdown in a Gold Cup final. The teams will play one another Sunday at 2 p.m. CT at Giants Stadium in New York, with the match broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel. We will be hosting watch parties at both area 810 Zone locations courtesy of Budweiser.
The United States defeated Honduras 2-0 last night on the strength of goals from Clarence Goodson and Kenny Cooper, both set up by Stuart Holden. Arnaud went 85 minutes for the U.S., while Espinoza played the final 10 for Honduras. Espinoza put Carlo Costly (who was rumored to be joining the Wizards during the preseason, remember that?) through late in the game, but former D.C. United goalkeeper Troy Perkins made a stop on Costly's breakaway effort to keep the U.S. ahead.
Mexico advanced last night by beating Costa Rica on PKs after tying 1-1 through regulation and extra time. See the highlights of that match below.
