 Wizards Fall to Sounders 1-0

With a late-game PK (Hartman says he didn't touch Montero), Kansas City is eliminated from the 2009 Open Cup. We'll return to action quickly, heading to Gillette Stadium where we are 6-1-4 all-time against the Revs in the MLS regular season. If you didn't listen to the game, you can see the full Twitter recap at www.twitter.com/hillcrest_road. Check out the notables (they're brief) from tonight:

· Kansas City fell in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals for the 2nd consecutive season to Seattle.
· Kansas City completed a stretch of six games in 17 days Tuesday.
· The stretch included road games in Boston, Minneapolis, Minn., and Seattle.
· Last year, the USL Sounders defeated Kansas City in PKs after a 0-0 tie through regulation and extra time.
· Rauwshan McKenzie and Jonathan Leathers both started last year in the Open Cup match at Seattle and started Tuesday.
· Tyson Wahl started last year for the Wizards in the match and started Tuesday for Seattle.
· The Wizards are now 9-10-3 all-time in Open Cup play (1-2 in PK shootouts).
· Kansas City nearly went to overtime for a 4th straight Open Cup match before the 89th minute penalty kick.
· After having two penalty kicks called last Tuesday against Minnesota, the Wizards were whistled for three penalty kicks in two Open Cup matches.
· Kansas City returns to MLS play this Saturday, July 11 in a tripleheader at Gillette Stadium that features two National Team matches after the wizards play the New England Revolution.
· The U.S. National Team will face Haiti in their final group-stage match of Gold Cup at 6 p.m. CT, with Honduras facing Grenada at 8 p.m. CT.
· Should Davy Arnaud or Jimmy Conrad play for the U.S. and Roger Espinoza play for Honduras, at least one Wizards player will take part in all three games of the tripleheader.
