Yesterday, the Wizards waived midfielder/defender Lance Watson after four years with the club. Watson was a 2nd round pick in 2006, playing 11 matches (4 starts) his rookie season. He went on to play in 2 games (0 starts) in 2007 and 3 games (1 start) in 2008 before playing in 20 matches (19 starts) last year. Lance registered his only career assist last season in 2,181 career minutes. We would like to thank Lance for his time and Kansas City and wish him the best in the future.
Yesterday, trialists Shahriar Dastan and Alexei Casian were also let go. Casian had been in camp since the beginning. Dastan first joined the team last week.

I thought Watson made some real progress last year. Guess it wasn't enough. Thanks for 4 years of service Lance.
I will miss Scrappy. Seems like we're doing an overhaul of sorts. It better be worth it! I also thought he made great progress last year.
Good by Lance,I will miss you. It has been fun to watch you grow. Deanna
